Historic Character
This home had originally been built primarily using elements from a historic barn on the property. The previous owner had done extensive kitchen renovations, but the style was modern/contemporary. Our client desired a style more in keeping with the barn aesthetic; bringing the warm characteristics from other areas of the home into the kitchen. The footprint of the space didn’t change, so this is also a good example of what an amazing transformation can look like while staying within the parameters of the layout. We also reprogrammed the adjacent area behind the kitchen to create an optimally functioning pantry, including additional appliances and an upgraded laundry area. With the help of the design team, plus bringing in salvaged materials from the previous barn as well as a local salvage yard, we were able to capture the warmth that is shown here. The result is a kitchen, dining area, and lounging area, all within one inviting space that meets our client’s vision for their home.
